Common nausea drug may shield elderly from anesthesia side effects
NCT ID NCT07551219
First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether ondansetron, a drug often used for nausea, can reduce dangerous drops in blood pressure and heart rate during spinal anesthesia in older adults having urologic surgery. Researchers tracked 140 patients aged 65 and older to see if those who received ondansetron had fewer episodes of low blood pressure or slow heart rate. The goal was to find a simple way to make anesthesia safer for elderly patients.
