First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study will test whether short office massages—on the head, neck, or hands—can lower chronic stress in women with sedentary jobs. 140 participants will receive 15-minute massages twice a week for four weeks, while a control group rests quietly. Researchers will measure stress using heart rate variability and self-reported surveys.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

office massage (head, cervical area, or hand)

What this could lead to

If effective, this could provide a simple, non-drug way to reduce stress and improve well-being for office workers.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 140 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The effect may be small or no better than quiet rest.
