Placental patch could speed healing of stubborn leg wounds

NCT ID NCT07510412

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a special wound dressing made from donated placental tissue, called NuShield, can help heal venous leg ulcers that won't close on their own. About 200 adults with these ulcers will receive either NuShield plus standard wound care or standard care alone. The main goal is to see if more wounds close completely with the added graft.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
NuShield (dehydrated placental allograft)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a new treatment option to help heal stubborn venous leg ulcers faster.
What could go wrong
This is a mid-stage trial with 200 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The graft may not improve healing over standard care alone.
