New hope for tough lung cancer: targeted drug cocktails enter human testing
NCT ID NCT07286149
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Aug 07, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests a new targeted therapy called MK-1084, alone or combined with other drugs, in 190 people with advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer that has a specific KRAS G12C mutation and has worsened after prior treatments. The main goals are to check safety and see if tumors shrink. It is an early-phase trial, so results are not yet known.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- MK-1084 (targeted therapy) combined with patritumab deruxtecan, sacituzumab tirumotecan, or cetuximab
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could lead to new combination treatment options for people with a specific type of advanced lung cancer that has stopped responding to prior therapies.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-phase trial (Phase 1b/2) with a small number of participants, so the treatments may not prove effective or safe enough for wider use. Side effects from the drug combinations could be significant.
