First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is testing whether different types of NSAIDs (like ibuprofen, diclofenac, and meloxicam) work better for specific pain types in people with frozen shoulder. 120 adults with shoulder pain and stiffness will take one of these drugs along with home exercises for two weeks. The goal is to see which drug provides the best pain relief and improvement in movement, and whether the type of pain a person has affects which drug works best.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, naproxen, etodolac, diclofenac, meloxicam, and lornoxicam
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could help doctors choose the most effective NSAID for each patient's specific pain type, improving pain relief and shoulder function.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 120 participants and a short 2-week follow-up. Results may not apply to all patients, and NSAIDs have known side effects like stomach upset.
