First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study tests whether a vacuum-sealed dressing (negative pressure wound therapy) can reduce wound complications like infection or reopening after emergency abdominal surgery. About 720 adults with a large midline incision will be randomly assigned to receive either the vacuum dressing or a standard one. The goal is to see if the vacuum approach leads to fewer wound problems and better recovery.
