First seen Apr 16, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested a device called NightWare, which uses an iPhone and Apple Watch to detect nightmares and gently vibrate to interrupt them without fully waking the person. The goal was to see if it could safely improve sleep quality in 270 veterans and active-duty service members with PTSD-related nightmares. Participants used the system for up to 90 days, and researchers measured changes in sleep quality using a standard questionnaire.
