Simulated NICU scenarios could ease student Nurses' stress and boost confidence
NCT ID NCT07653308
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a short, high-fidelity simulation training for third-year nursing students that mimics a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) scenario. The training includes communication with a new mother, a newborn emergency, and support for breastfeeding. Researchers measure students' stress, learning satisfaction, self-confidence, and overall learning experience before and after the simulation, and also interview them to gather deeper insights.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
NICU scenario-based simulation training
What this could lead to
If effective, this training approach could be adopted in nursing schools to better prepare students for stressful neonatal intensive care situations.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-site study with only 18 participants, so results may not apply broadly. It measures short-term effects, not long-term clinical impact.
