New hope for Drug-Resistant TB: experimental combo trial launches
NCT ID NCT07170800
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new drug called JDB0131, combined with other TB medications, in 60 people with rifampin-resistant tuberculosis. Participants will receive one of two doses of JDB0131 or a standard drug (delamanid) for 8 weeks. The goal is to see which combination clears the bacteria from sputum faster and more safely.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
JDB0131 benzenesulfonate tablets (a new drug for tuberculosis) combined with other standard TB drugs
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a new, effective treatment option for people with drug-resistant tuberculosis, potentially shortening treatment time and improving cure rates.
What could go wrong
This is an early phase 2 trial with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The new drug may cause side effects or not work better than existing treatments.
