NCT ID NCT07687121
First seen Jul 07, 2026 · Last updated Jul 08, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study works with African and South Asian immigrants to design a tuberculosis (TB) screening program that fits their needs. Researchers will hold workshops with immigrants, community leaders, and doctors to identify barriers and create a screening pathway. Then, they will test the program with 200 immigrants from Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, India, Bangladesh, and Nepal who arrived in Portugal less than five years ago. The goal is to improve TB detection and understand the specific challenges these communities face.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could create a culturally sensitive screening model that improves TB detection in vulnerable immigrant communities.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-stage, small study (200 participants) focused on design and feasibility, not a large-scale trial. Results may not apply to other populations or settings.
