Smart bladder device could sense and stop urgency
NCT ID NCT07193407
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This early study tests a new implantable device that senses bladder nerve signals and delivers stimulation to reduce sudden urges to urinate. Ten women with overactive bladder that hasn't improved with standard treatments will receive the device. The goal is to see if the device can detect urgency and respond with targeted stimulation to ease symptoms.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Sacral Neuromodulation System (INO-SNM-01) - a device implanted near the sacral nerve to sense and stimulate bladder nerve activity.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could lead to a more personalized, responsive treatment for overactive bladder that reduces urgency symptoms without daily medication.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very early, small feasibility study with only 10 participants. The device may not work as expected, and risks from surgery and device use are unknown. Results may not apply to all patients.
