Muscle training with biofeedback may curb bladder leaks — trial puts it to the test
NCT ID NCT07728747
First seen Jul 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 28, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether adding electromyographic (EMG) biofeedback to pelvic floor muscle training can improve bladder control in women with wet overactive bladder. Participants receive either bladder training alone or bladder training plus 24 supervised biofeedback sessions over 8 weeks. The goal is to see if biofeedback helps women better recognize and contract the right muscles to reduce urgency and leakage.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- EMG biofeedback-assisted pelvic floor muscle training plus bladder training
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this approach could offer a non-drug, non-surgical way to better manage urgency and leakage in women with overactive bladder.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with 64 participants, so results may not apply to all women. The added benefit of biofeedback over bladder training alone is uncertain.
