First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study is testing a new, non-invasive way to analyze DNA from nipple discharge to tell the difference between harmless and cancerous breast conditions. About 60 adults with bloody nipple discharge who are already scheduled for surgery will provide a small fluid sample before their operation. Researchers will compare the test results with the final surgical diagnosis to see if the fluid test can accurately identify cancers and help many people avoid unnecessary surgery in the future.
