New camera tech aims to spot surgical trouble before it starts

NCT ID NCT06222645

Summary

This study is testing a new camera-based method (iPPG) against the current standard dye method (ICG) to see which is better at checking blood flow in tissue during surgery for stomach or colorectal cancer. The goal is to help surgeons make better decisions during the operation to prevent dangerous leaks where the intestines are reconnected. About 200 adult patients having planned surgery will be randomly assigned to have their tissue checked with one of the two methods.
