New camera tech aims to spot surgical trouble before it starts

NCT ID NCT06222645

Summary

This study is testing a new camera-based imaging method against the current standard to see which is better at checking blood flow in tissue during surgery for stomach or colorectal cancer. The goal is to help surgeons make better decisions during the operation to prevent serious complications like leaks from the surgical connection. About 200 adult patients scheduled for this type of surgery will be randomly assigned to have their tissue assessed with one of the two imaging techniques.
