NCT ID NCT03475173

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is testing a new non-invasive device that uses laser speckle to measure blood flow and structure inside the eye. Researchers will compare these images with standard vision tests in 500 people with various retinal conditions. The goal is to see if this technology can better detect areas of damage.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to better ways to diagnose and monitor eye diseases without invasive procedures.

What could go wrong

This is an early exploratory study, so the technology may not prove accurate or useful for routine care. It is not testing a treatment.
