Mayo clinic tests 'Twinkling' marker to improve breast cancer node detection

NCT ID NCT06999798

Summary

This early-stage study is testing a new type of biopsy marker designed to be easier for surgeons to see on ultrasound scans during breast cancer operations. The marker is placed in a cancerous lymph node before treatment and is meant to help guide surgeons to the correct node for removal months later. Researchers will check if this new 'twinkling' marker is safer and more visible than standard markers in about 20 patients with breast cancer that has spread to lymph nodes.
