Aortic emergency: brain complications linked to longer ICU stays

NCT ID NCT07167628

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looked back at the medical records of 274 adults who had emergency surgery for a torn aorta (acute type A aortic dissection). The goal was to see how often serious brain problems like stroke or coma happen after surgery and whether those problems lead to longer stays in the intensive care unit (ICU). The researchers did not test any new treatments; they only analyzed existing data to better understand these complications and their impact on hospital resources.
