NCT ID NCT06143397

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 24, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether mild electrical pulses to nerves in the leg and lower back can help women with multiple sclerosis who have overactive bladder symptoms like sudden urges and leaks. Forty-two women received the stimulation over several sessions. The goal was to see if it improves bladder function and quality of life without medication.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (device)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a non-drug option to reduce urgent, frequent urination and improve daily comfort for women with MS.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed study (42 participants) without a placebo group, so results may not apply broadly. Nerve stimulation may not work for everyone and can cause mild skin irritation.
