One shot may cut chronic pain after breast cancer surgery
NCT ID NCT06019325
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study tested whether a single injection of a nerve block (called rhomboid intercostal block) after mastectomy can lower the chance of long-term pain. 254 women having breast cancer surgery were split into two groups: one got the nerve block, the other got no block. Researchers checked pain levels at 3 and 6 months after surgery to see if the block helped prevent chronic pain.
