Scientists hunt genetic clues to predict childhood epilepsy after newborn seizures

Summary

This study follows 300 children who had seizures as newborns to understand how their genes might affect their risk of developing epilepsy later in childhood. Researchers are collecting genetic information along with brain scan and medical history data to try to build better tools to predict which children are at high, medium, or low risk. The goal is to gain knowledge that could help guide future care and monitoring for these children.
