New drug duo aims to wipe out leukemia cells in First-Line treatment

NCT ID NCT07557056

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This phase 2 trial tests two oral drugs, nemtabrutinib and venetoclax, as a first treatment for people with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL). The goal is to see if the combination can make cancer cells undetectable in the blood. About 25 adults who have not had prior treatment will take the drugs for 14 cycles, and researchers will check for side effects and how well the cancer responds.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
nemtabrutinib and venetoclax
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could offer a highly effective frontline treatment for CLL/SLL, potentially achieving deep remission with undetectable cancer cells.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 25 participants. The combination may cause side effects, and results may not generalize to all patients. It is not yet recruiting.
