Hands-On neck pain relief: do two techniques beat one?
NCT ID NCT07403279
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at two physical therapy techniques for people with chronic mechanical neck pain lasting over three months. One technique, called Sustained Natural Apophyseal Glides (SNAGs), involves gentle joint movements. The other, Integrated Neuromuscular Inhibition Technique (INIMT), uses pressure and stretching on tight neck muscles. The study compared SNAGs alone versus SNAGs combined with INIMT in 44 adults aged 18 to 45. The goal was to see which approach better reduced pain, improved neck movement, and helped daily function.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Physical therapy techniques: Sustained Natural Apophyseal Glides (SNAGs) and Integrated Neuromuscular Inhibition Technique (INIMT)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that combining these two hands-on techniques provides better neck pain relief and mobility than one technique alone.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study with only 44 participants. Results may not apply to everyone with neck pain, and the techniques require a trained therapist.
