Online game may sharpen aging brains, study hopes
NCT ID NCT06995638
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether playing a complex online game (the Breakfast Game) can improve thinking and multitasking skills in healthy adults aged 60-75. Participants will complete 10 one-hour training sessions over a month, plus cognitive tests and a blood exam. The goal is to see if this web-based training can help reduce age-related mental decline and Alzheimer's risk.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Web-based cognitive training game (the Breakfast Game)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a simple, at-home way to help older adults stay mentally sharp and potentially lower their risk of dementia.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study with only 130 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The training is short (one month), and any benefits might not last long or translate to real-world tasks.
