Eye scans could spot hidden vision loss in MS patients

NCT ID NCT07175324

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether a special eye scan (OCT-A) can detect blood vessel changes in the retina of people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and if those changes match up with vision loss. Researchers will scan the eyes of 32 MS patients and test their visual fields. The goal is to better understand how MS damages the eyes and find a non-invasive way to track this damage.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help doctors use eye scans to track nerve damage in multiple sclerosis, potentially leading to earlier detection of vision problems.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early observational study with only 32 people. It is not testing a treatment, so it will not directly change care. Results may not apply to all MS patients.
