New pain drug aims to cut opioid use after bunion surgery

Summary

This study tested a new medicine called MR-107A-02 to see if it can safely relieve pain after bunionectomy (foot surgery). About 410 adults took part. The goal was to measure pain relief and how much extra opioid painkiller was needed. The study compared the new drug to a placebo (fake pill) and an active painkiller.
