Blood markers may spot lung trouble in arthritis patients
NCT ID NCT07173582
First seen Jun 26, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether two substances in the blood, called MMP7 and MMP9, can help identify lung disease in people with rheumatoid arthritis. Researchers will compare 81 participants: those with rheumatoid arthritis and lung disease, those with rheumatoid arthritis alone, and healthy controls. The goal is to see if these blood markers relate to disease activity and lung damage.

- If successful, this could lead to a simple blood test to detect lung disease early in rheumatoid arthritis patients.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage observational study, not a treatment trial. The findings may not lead to a reliable screening tool.
