Can two common drugs tame rheumatoid arthritis?

NCT ID NCT07745426

First seen Aug 04, 2026 · Last updated Aug 05, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This phase 2 trial tests whether adding either diosmin or rebamipide to standard rheumatoid arthritis treatment can better reduce disease activity and improve physical function. About 66 adults with active rheumatoid arthritis will be split into three groups: one receiving standard care alone, and two receiving standard care plus one of the add-on drugs for three months. Researchers will measure changes in joint disease activity, disability, and blood markers of inflammation.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
diosmin and rebamipide as add-on therapies to conventional rheumatoid arthritis treatment
What this could lead to
If successful, adding diosmin or rebamipide to standard care could offer a new, affordable way to better control rheumatoid arthritis symptoms and improve daily function.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial, so results may not apply broadly. The added drugs could cause side effects or fail to show meaningful benefit over standard therapy alone.
