New hope for brain bleed patients: minimally invasive procedure may prevent repeat surgeries
NCT ID NCT06163547
First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests a procedure called middle meningeal artery (MMA) embolization for people with chronic subdural hematomas—a type of brain bleed that can cause confusion and weakness. The goal is to see if this procedure can stop the bleed from coming back after surgery, or even treat it without surgery when surgery is too risky. About 180 adults will take part across multiple hospitals.
