Summary
This early study tested a new catheter-based device to treat functional mitral regurgitation, a condition where the heart's mitral valve leaks due to damaged heart muscle. Nineteen adults with heart failure symptoms took part. The device is implanted permanently to tighten the valve like a purse-string, aiming to reduce leakage and improve symptoms.
