Old antibiotic, new trick: could minocycline tame resistant hypertension?

NCT ID NCT06246396

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether the antibiotic minocycline can lower blood pressure in people whose hypertension does not respond to standard treatments. Researchers will give 120 adults either minocycline or a placebo daily for three months to see if the drug works by changing gut bacteria, reducing inflammation, or calming overactive immune signals. The goal is to find a new way to control resistant hypertension, not to cure it.
