Can mindfulness ease stress and boost memory in seniors? new study aims to find out
NCT ID NCT07389655
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This pilot study will test whether a specially designed mindfulness program, called Mindful Awareness Practice (MAP), can reduce stress and improve memory, mood, and well-being in older adults (65+) with mild cognitive impairment and high stress. Thirty participants will be randomly assigned to either the MAP program or a health education program. The main goal is to see if the study is feasible and acceptable, not yet to prove effectiveness.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Mindful Awareness Practice (MAP) - a tailored mindfulness program
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a non-drug way to help older adults with mild cognitive impairment manage stress and possibly slow memory decline.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small pilot study (30 people) testing feasibility, not effectiveness. Results may not apply to everyone, and benefits may be modest or absent.
