Can a roller device massage away stress and fix your sleep?
NCT ID NCT07811284
First seen Sep 10, 2026 · Last updated Sep 11, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
Researchers are testing whether a 10-session mechanical massage program can improve sleep quality, lower stress hormones, and affect immune function in people who report high stress and poor sleep. The study enrolls 32 adults who score high on stress and insomnia questionnaires and get little weekly exercise. Participants are randomly assigned to receive either real mechanical massage or a sham version, and researchers track sleep with wrist monitors, measure cortisol in saliva, and check other health markers over five weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Mechanized massage using the LPG Cellu M6 Alliance device
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a non-drug way to help stressed people sleep better and feel less tense.
- What could go wrong
- The trial is small, with 32 participants, and uses a sham massage for comparison. Any benefits may come from relaxation or placebo rather than the device itself, and the results may not apply to everyone.
