Could a blood pressure drug prevent kidney failure in liver patients?

NCT ID NCT07422948

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether starting midodrine early can help control ascites (fluid buildup in the belly) and prevent kidney problems in people with acute-on-chronic liver failure. About 113 participants will receive either midodrine plus standard care or standard care alone. The main goal is to see if more patients are free of ascites after 28 days.
