Can childhood stress leave a mark on your DNA?

NCT ID NCT04923685

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study looks at how childhood trauma and stress might change tiny genetic molecules called microRNAs in the blood. Researchers hope these changes can help explain why some people develop depression or suicidal thoughts. 450 adults aged 18-60 with or without depression will give blood samples for analysis. The goal is to better understand the biology behind mental illness, not to test a new treatment.
