Scientists probe link between plastic in lungs and cancer

NCT ID NCT06530615

Summary

This study aims to understand if tiny plastic particles in the air we breathe end up in our lungs and if they are connected to lung cancer. Researchers are analyzing lung fluid samples from 119 patients who are already scheduled for a standard lung washing procedure. The goal is to measure and identify the types of microplastics present and see if there's a difference between people with and without lung cancer.
