First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study aims to find out if tiny plastic particles, called microplastics, are present in the deep gum pockets of people with severe periodontitis (stage III or IV). Researchers will collect plaque from 25 adults who have not yet started gum treatment. The goal is to measure how much microplastic is there and what types, to see if it might make gum disease worse.
