Breast implant infections: could your own bacteria be the culprit?

NCT ID NCT05020574

First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at how antibiotics change the bacteria in the gut and breast after a mastectomy with implant reconstruction. Researchers want to see if certain bacteria already present in the breast make infections more likely. About 200 women with breast cancer or a high genetic risk will provide tissue and fluid samples over several weeks to help understand infection risks.
