New Micro-Ultrasound could spot prostate cancer more clearly
NCT ID NCT07075705
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a new type of ultrasound, called transperineal micro-ultrasound, can better detect prostate cancer during biopsy. Unlike standard ultrasound, this method uses higher frequency sound waves to create clearer images. Researchers will enroll 138 men scheduled for a prostate biopsy to see if this technique improves cancer detection.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a more accurate, less invasive way to detect prostate cancer during biopsy.
What could go wrong
This is an early feasibility study with only 138 participants. The new method may not prove better than current techniques.
