New ultrasound could spot prostate cancer more clearly

NCT ID NCT07075705

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a new type of ultrasound, called transperineal micro-ultrasound, can better find prostate cancer during a biopsy. Instead of placing the probe in the rectum, it is placed on the skin between the scrotum and anus, using higher sound wave frequencies for clearer images. About 138 men scheduled for a standard prostate biopsy will also get this new scan to see if it improves cancer detection.
