Spine surgery patients may need fewer opioids with one dose of methadone

Summary

This study tests whether giving a single dose of methadone during spine surgery can improve pain control and reduce the need for other opioids. About 30 adults having elective spine surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either standard pain medicines or a single dose of methadone. Researchers will track pain scores and total opioid use for 72 hours after surgery.
