New approach could slash pain and opioid use after hip surgery

NCT ID NCT07227064

Summary

This study is testing whether giving a single dose of methadone during hip replacement surgery helps reduce pain and the need for opioid painkillers afterward. Researchers will compare methadone to standard pain control in 162 adults having elective hip replacement. The goal is to see if this approach leads to less pain in recovery, less opioid medication use, and better overall recovery.
