NCT ID NCT07227064
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether giving a single intravenous dose of methadone during hip replacement surgery reduces pain and the need for extra opioids right after the operation. Researchers will compare pain scores and opioid use in 162 adults receiving either methadone or a placebo. The goal is to see if this simple addition improves recovery and lowers opioid consumption.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple way to better manage pain after hip replacement and reduce the need for other opioids.
