Could a ketogenic diet boost brain cancer treatment?
NCT ID NCT04730869
First seen Apr 10, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looked at whether adding a metabolic therapy program (fasting and a ketogenic diet) to standard treatment (chemotherapy and radiation) is safe and feasible for people with glioblastoma, a very aggressive brain cancer. The approach aims to starve cancer cells by lowering blood sugar and raising ketones, which normal cells can use for energy. 18 newly diagnosed patients participated, and the study focused on whether they could maintain a specific blood sugar-to-ketone ratio during treatment.
