New MRI method tracks sugar burning in lung tumors

NCT ID NCT02095808

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study aims to develop a better way to image lung tumors using MRI and a natural, slightly modified sugar solution. Researchers will look at how tumors burn sugar for fuel by analyzing tumor samples after surgery. The goal is to understand the metabolic pathways of lung cancer, not to provide a direct treatment. About 200 adults with known or suspected lung cancer who are scheduled for surgery may join.
