Summary
This study looks at proteins that help parts of cells communicate—specifically mitochondria and the endoplasmic reticulum—in people with healthy gums, gingivitis, or advanced gum disease. Researchers measure these proteins in saliva and gum fluid to see if they relate to inflammation and tissue damage. The goal is to better understand the biological processes behind gum disease, not to test a treatment.
