First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study takes tiny tissue samples from the rectum of people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and healthy volunteers to measure how gut nerves work. Researchers will use special imaging and genetic tests to see how these nerves react to different substances and foods. The goal is to better understand what causes IBS symptoms, not to test a new treatment.
