New risk model could help predict superbug infections in ICUs
NCT ID NCT07603128
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is testing a risk prediction model for MDRGNB, a type of drug-resistant infection, in 1,000 ICU patients across multiple hospitals. Researchers will check how well the model predicts who gets infected, using data collected within 48 hours of ICU admission. The goal is to improve early detection and guide antibiotic use, but this is an observational study, not a treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a reliable tool for predicting MDRGNB infections in ICU patients, helping doctors start the right antibiotics sooner.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The model may not perform as well in real-world settings, and results may not apply to all hospitals.
