Scientists create digital copies of diabetes patients to personalize care
NCT ID NCT07650682
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This observational study is gathering detailed metabolic data from 25 adults with insulin-dependent type 2 diabetes. After drinking a standard liquid meal, participants will have frequent blood tests to measure glucose, insulin, and other markers. They will also wear continuous glucose monitors and activity trackers at home. The goal is to build mathematical models, or 'digital twins,' that could one day help personalize diabetes management.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could lead to personalized digital models that help predict how people with type 2 diabetes respond to meals and activity, potentially improving future treatments.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early observational study (25 people) that only collects data—it does not test any treatment. The digital models may not work for everyone or lead to real-world benefits.
