New heart monitor could spot hidden danger after valve surgery
NCT ID NCT02153307
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is testing whether a small implantable heart monitor (Reveal LINQ) can detect serious heart block in people who develop a new electrical problem (left bundle branch block) after having their aortic valve replaced (TAVI). About 80 participants will get the monitor and be followed for up to 2 years. The goal is to see how often dangerous heart block occurs and whether the monitor helps doctors make better treatment decisions.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Reveal LINQ® insertable cardiac monitor (implantable device)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that long-term heart monitoring helps catch dangerous heart rhythm problems early in TAVI patients, potentially preventing fainting or sudden cardiac arrest.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage observational study (80 participants) with no control group. The device may detect harmless events that lead to unnecessary worry or procedures. Results may not apply to all TAVI patients.
