Ultrasound may catch hidden lung damage in arthritis patients

NCT ID NCT06235645

First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a quick, radiation-free lung ultrasound can detect interstitial lung disease (ILD) in people with rheumatoid arthritis. ILD is a serious complication that can be deadly, but current detection relies on expensive CT scans. Researchers will compare ultrasound results to CT scans in 280 adults with rheumatoid arthritis who have risk factors for ILD.
