Can a Redness-Relief drop help glaucoma eyes without side effects?

NCT ID NCT04007276

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether Lumify, a low-dose brimonidine eye drop already approved for redness, can safely reduce eye redness and eyelid droop in 60 glaucoma patients who already use stronger brimonidine drops. Researchers will measure redness, eye pressure, and eyelid position after a single dose. The goal is to see if this lower concentration can relieve a common side effect without harming glaucoma control.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

brimonidine tartrate ophthalmic solution 0.025% (Lumify)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer glaucoma patients a way to reduce eye redness without raising eye pressure or causing droopy eyelids.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial with only 60 participants. The lower dose may not work as well as expected, and individual results may vary.
